letter

October 30, 2020

Dear Parents and Guardians:

Over the past couple of weeks, we have seen significant increases in positive cases of the COVID-19 virus in Washington County. Today at noon Governor Janet Mills designated Washington County as a Yellow risk level. This Yellow designation is a result of the county’s increase in recorded cases.

Consistent with guidance from the Maine Department of Education, our Schools will continue to run under our current hybrid plans of instruction. Our elementary schools will continue to have in-person instruction four days a week with Wednesday being a fully remote day. Our Jr./Sr. High School will continue to operate on its alternating two-day a week in-person schedule with Wednesday being fully remote. All afterschool activities, events, co-curricular and extracurricular activities are cancelled starting today and continuing until our County designation goes back to Green.

Moving forward, we will continue to monitor this situation as it evolves through information and guidance provided by the Maine CDC and the Maine Department of Education. We will continue to provide information either through communications like this letter or through our website, Facebook page, and our alert system. We also encourage you to stay informed on the COVID-19 situation by reviewing links on the Maine CDC website.

Thank you for your patience, understanding, and cooperation as we work together through this difficult situation. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Sincerely,

Ronald C. Ramsay

Superintendent of Schools
