December 2, 2021
Dear Parents, Guardians, Staff, Students, and School Board Members:
At this time, we are extending the indoor mask mandate for another 2 weeks (10 school days) to be revisited again on December 17.
In the last three weeks the local cases of COVID have risen significantly. On November 23 the county’s seven-day COVID positive total was 184. That is the highest it has been since the pandemic started. We have had a total of 82 positive cases within our schools. In the past three weeks, since we went remote, we have had 50 new cases reported. This surge accounts for 61% of the total cases we have had so far this school year. We are definitely seeing an increase in cases at this time.
We are still fortunate that none of the positive cases that have been brought into our schools have resulted in any spread within the school. All have been linked to community transmission.
This mask mandate will continue to be monitored, and it will be lifted when the conditions that caused its implementation have significantly subsided. At the end of this time-period you will be notified if the mask mandate will continue or if it will be lifted.
Thank you for your patience, understanding, and cooperation with this difficult situation. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Sincerely,
Ronald C. Ramsay
Superintendent of Schools
