The National Honor Society and National Junior Honor Society members attended the dedication of the Freeport Flag Ladies Monument. Elaine Greene, JoAnn Miller, and Carmen Footer, known as the Freeport Flag Ladies, have flown the American flag in downtown Freeport every Tuesday since September 11, 2001. They did this to honor the victims of the attacks of September 11, to show their patriotism, and to encourage others to show their patriotism. At the dedication this morning a flagpole memorial was unveiled in their honor. Every Tuesday this flag will be raised in their honor and to continue the tradition.
